91 is reading… Decorate for a Party

Save & share

Here at 91 HQ, we LOVE a collaboration. Two (or more) creative heads are better than one, right? So we were thrilled to hear that Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring were back together penning a brand new book – Decorate for a Party. We loved their first joint book, Decorate with Flowers, so knew this one was set to be a beauty too.

And yep! It is a beauty! The design and photographs are fresh and stylish, making it a joy to look through, but it is also super practical. It kicks off with thoughts on choosing a theme, types of party (dinner party, buffet etc) as well as how best to create atmosphere – an essential ingredient to any gathering!

Planning a party can be stressful at the best of times, so planning a BEAUTIFUL party is probably quite daunting for a lot of folk, but the book proves that with a little planning and preparation, and a few super simple ideas it can be done, and you won’t be a frazzled mess by the time your guests arrive!

There are lovely ideas for favours and party bags that will literally take you minutes to put together, like these little succulents and brown paper bags tied with fabric strips. And these ‘stamp napkins’ below are so easy you could totally get the kids on the case!

The book is separated into different themes such as ‘Fresh + Modern’, Happy + Bright’ and ‘Forest and Family’ – so there is a real variation on looks you can take inspiration from…

We loved the page on Bar Cart Basics (a must-have piece in any home!) – with a checklist for necessary items for serving drinks. The gold and white styling looks grown up and glamourous. But equally, we loved the ‘Forest + Family’ section with it’s outdoor ideas for a garden or woodland get together. The book even gives you a few starting points for your music playlists, as no party is complete with some tunes!

Congratulations Holly and Leslie! It really is a beautiful, inspiration-packed book, that I know I’ll be returning to regularly when the next kids party or celebratory event rolls around!

Decorate for a Party by Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring is published by Jacqui Small (£20). More information on the book can be found here
